The use of firewalls, which co-exists with the Internet, began almost the same time as the use of the Internet started growing. Although it does not present an all-in-one solution to Internet based attacks, firewalls through the years have proven to be an effective deterrent to such attacks. Firewall technology from the early years of the World Wide Web has evolved and taken advantage of the advancement made in the Information Technology to become more effective and functional.
